Carbondale, PA, April 5, 2018. Gentex Corporation, a global leader in personal protection and situational awareness solutions for defense forces, emergency responders, and industrial personnel announced today that it has been awarded the U.K. Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) Design Approved Organization Scheme (DAOS) certification after a successful audit of their U.K. facilities by the U.K. Military Aviation Authority (MAA) on behalf of the MoD. Certification enables continued U.K. MoD contract work.
“We’re proud to have received the U.K. MoD’s DAOS certification for our U.K. facilities,” said Richard Dellar, chief commercial officer, Gentex Corporation. “The certification further validates our commitment to providing the U.K. MoD and other customers with the highest standards of performance and user safety, coupled with leading edge technology, such as chem-bio and laser eye protection.” Dellar added, “In addition to enabling future U.K. MoD work, the certification helps us expand our already strong business throughout Europe.”
In existence since 2010, the MAA has been providing independent assessments of the competence of defense contractors and service organizations involved in the design of aircraft systems, associated equipment and airborne explosive ordnance and armament equipment. U.K. MoD policy is to only procure from contractors who have been DAOS certified.
Gentex has been supporting the U.K. MoD for over 75 years, with products such as the ALPHA helmet system and associated Active Noise Reduction (ANR) headset.
