February 21, 2013 | CARBONDALE, PA – GENTEX Corporation announced today that the sale of its “Visionix” Helmet Mounted Cueing System (HMCS) and the InterSense motion tracking business to Thales has been completed. The new company, Thales Visionix, Inc., will operate as a subsidiary of Thales Communications, Inc., of Clarksburg, Maryland.

Visionix designs, develops and delivers Helmet Mounted Display (HMD) technology solutions for the defense and aerospace industries. InterSense is an innovator in the inertial tracking and sensor fusion technology for customers that deploy high-performance tracking, navigation, visualization and stabilization systems. When paired together, the team provides lower cost, highly capable HMD technology to the global market.

GENTEX has a history of developing unique technology solutions focused on its mission to enhance personal protection and situational awareness for national security forces operating in high-performance environments. This tradition will continue into the future by pursuing technologies internally and through partnership to increase the effectiveness of the customers we serve.

The company’s decision to sell its HMD division is recognition that, for the entities to function at their full potential, they would need the involvement and investment of a leader of global technology in the Aerospace and Defense markets. With unique capabilities to design, develop and deploy equipment, systems and services meeting the most complex security requirements Thales, as one of the premiere global defense contractors, is well positioned to utilize and develop the capabilities of Visionix.
